Had a wonderful few days at Tonsai beach.
While I was there during low season the place was very quiet and peaceful.
While the room and accommodation is very basic it did not pose any problems.
Not having WiFi and electricity all the time was like a wonderful detox of the constant need to stay online and the beautiful nature and surroundings of the area helped with that.
It's great for everyone looking for an adventure and I'm sure during high season it's a wonderful place to connect with likeminded people.
As I was looking for some peace and quiet this was ideal for me and I will definitely come back at another time.
The host and staff were always very kind and helpful and provided me with everything I needed.

I stayed during the rainy months of July/August, which are much quieter than other times of year. You still need earplugs — for playful monkeys jumping on the roof, roosters crowing, etc. But if you’re seeking solitude, it’s not hard to find during this time; I was often the only person on the beach, which was surreal.

So if that’s what you’re after, and you don’t mind some rain, this time of year could be a great option. Kind and helpful hosts. Clean and functional room. Very firm Thai mattresses. No issues with bugs. The room might get hot during the day, when there’s no power for the fan, but that’s when you should be out doing stuff. Come back at 6 when everything turns on.

The location, Tonsai Bay, is spectacular, but it’s best if you’re fit and adventurous. Getting anywhere else requires climbing in/out of longboats into possibly waist-deep water, or scrambling up and down the craggy jungle trail to Railay. So it’s not for everyone… but if it’s for you, then you’ll love it.
