A museum beautifully located in a park close to the central. Ca 20 min walking distance from the flat. Check out the exhibitions. Has a lovely cafeteria - I recommend having lunch there.

Kjarvalsstaðir houses the works of one of Iceland’s most influential and recognised artists, Jóhannes S. Kjarval. The exhibitions at Kjarvalsstaðir focus primarily on paintings and sculptures of the established masters of modern art. The building itself is a fine example of Nordic modernism. One can take in the view of Klambratún Park while enjoying a drink or a snack at the Museum´s Café. There is also an excellent Museum Store in the lobby and a lovely family-activity space, the Idea Lab.

There is a nice café in the Art Museum in the middle of Klambratún park. It's open from 10-17. We specially recommend the quiche with smoked salmon. Very good cakes as well.

At Kjarvalsstaðir you can find the works of one of Iceland´s most famous painter, Jóhannes Kjarval. There is also always exhibition with contemporary art too. The building itself it pretty interesting, a good example of 70's nordic architecture with exposed concrete walls.
