One of the oldest pre-Romanesque buildings in Montenegro, it was built in the 9th century (840 A.D.). It is situated on the north wing of Budva old town. According to legend, it was erected by Benedictine monks, who gifted the Christians of Budva an icon of the Virgin. It was also used as a school in the olden days.
