The Shovel Handle Pub has been a favorite of locals and tourists for decades and offers Yankee style cuisine to compliment the rustic charm of this 3-story post and beam barn. Marty and Pam Sweeney, previous owners of Wildcat Inn & Tavern are chef and host of the pub and have a great reputation for quality hospitality in the valley. With views of Black Mountain Ski Resort out our windows, sit fireside and enjoy three levels of dining. Family-friendly live entertainment is offered most weekends.

This is my favorite place to eat in The Valley. It’s beautifully sited on the edge of Black Mountain Ski Area and has a really wonderful vibe. They have all the pub favorites, as well as a kids’ menu, but also some more elevated choices. They do sometimes close for weddings, so be sure to call before you go.
