A very nice rather upscale Italian restaurant with friendly English speaking staff. The bread and pizza dough is nice here and generally better than most Italian fare in Kyoto.

IL PAPPALARDO specializes in Italian food with a fine-dining twist; tuck in to a succulent cut of prime steak, cooked to perfection or a seafood medley, showcasing fresh mussels. They also serve dishes using seasonal ingredients and Napoli pizza baked in a wood kiln. The small but sleek tables sit opposite the large bar, with a good cocktail selection.
