The Castillo Armas bridge is located 110 miles (178 km) from Guatemala City on the CA2 highway in the jurisdiction of San Sebastián, Retalhuleu, It is located on the Samalá River. It was built on July 10, 1957 during the government of Colonel Carlos Castillo Armas (hence its name). The weight of the bridge is 115 tons and it has a 15-inch thick platform.
