The Clear Creek trail is a paved path that starts up-canyon from downtown Golden and goes all the way east to the South Platte River (north of Denver). You can pop off the trail around Crown Hill Park to take some roads (with bike lanes) to Sloan's Lake which is an easy way to connect your ride to downtown Denver at Confluence Park. From Confluence Park you can ride paved paths south to access miles and miles of paved trail riding -- south and east along the Bear Creek trail to Morrison (Red Rocks area), or all the way south to Chatfield State Park (you can enter it for free on a bike), and you can loop it all up with the C-470 Trail. Essentially, Clear Creek trail is an excellent way to link up a long road cycle, if you're into that kind of thing. The best part is a majority of your long ride will be on paved paths with no vehicular traffic.

This is an easy 1.8 mile hike that runs directly through the heart of Golden. Much of the path is both paved and shaded and is an easy beautiful walk for families with kids.
