Le Chai au Quai serves as a workshop for tiny production 'specials'. Here Bordeaux-born, Haut-Brion-trained Jean-Marc Sauboua, his second in command Mark Hoddy and the talented team push forward the frontiers of winemaking and challenge age-old traditions. They are happy to break the sacred appellation rules, thereby sacrificing a fancy name on the label in favour of capturing outstanding 'Grand Cru' flavour in the bottle. What makes them different from any other chateau visit ? Every wine from here is a little masterpiece, handcrafted from tiny parcels of amazing grapes that the team searches out. There are no strict rules to follow – they are happy to give their winemakers the freedom to make the wines how they want in the pursuit of excellence and perfection

This is a winery (they produce some of the wines distributed by Laithwaite in the UK) and wine shop. The staff is really nice and will help you find the wine you want even for a moderate price. I hear they also do tours of the chai and tastings that are very informative but I have never done it myself.
