Best surf spots: left break from access 4 (The Bar). Beach break on access 8-9. Quieter, but sometimes exceptionally consistent right break off access 18.

The main beach of Whangamata is famed for the Whangamata Bar which is a left-hand sand bar break for experienced surfers only. Further round are smaller surf breaks for learners. It's a great beach for all the family and for stretching those legs if you fancy a long beach walk or even a jog.

Fabulous options which include the main surf beach, the estuary at the southern end as well as the inner harbour. A wonderful place to bring the family.

Of course the main reason we, and others come to Whangamata. Beautiful long white sand beach! Laze on it, stroll down it, swim, surf or boat. The choice is yours...
