Approx 30 min drive away in Thornbury , another lovely market town with range of independent shops and cafes to wander around , you can book afternoon teas in the Castle Restaurant ( phone to confirm )

A 30 minute drive. Built in the 1500's, Thornbury Castle has housed kings, queens and dukes over the centuries. Walk the halls lined with suits of armour and tapestry-hung walls and immerse yourself in English history. This is somewhere to enjoy afternoon tea in the lovely grounds and gardens rather than as a castle visit/tour. www.thornburycastle.co.uk
