Kauai Humane Society has a unique program "Dog for a Day" where you can borrow a shelter dog and take it for a walk or sightseeing with you! You might fall in love with the borrowed dog and adopt it (that's what the Humane Society hopes you'll do).

Adopt a Dog for the Day! Come pick out your pup and they load you up with snacks, water, poop bags, leash, toys. You can take the dog wherever you want for day. Many dogs have found their forever homes this way and it helps to socialize the dogs. I believe they now charge $40 for taking the dog out for the day.

Why miss your furry friends when you can stop by the humane society and check out a dog for the day? They come with all the things you need for the day as well as a sit of dog friendly beaches and locations you can go to with them.

This beautiful brand new state of the art animal shelter is on the way from airport to Poipu. We always stop in to drop a fiver in the donation box, and maybe visit some kitties.
