Clyde Butcher is an American large format camera photographer known for wilderness photography of the Florida landscape. He began his career doing color photography before switching to large scale black-and-white landscape photography which gained him much acclaim. Butcher is a strong advocate of conservation efforts and uses his work to promote awareness of the beauty of natural places. Awards for his work includes: North American Nature Photography Association, Lifetime Achievement Award in Nature Photography, Ansel Adams Award the Sierra Club, Florida Artist Hall of Fame Award and the Distinguished Artist Award from Florida House Embassy Washington, DC, just to name a few. He has also been a Ted Talks Speaker about photography called "Thru the lens". The Big Cypress Gallery is off the beaten path and can be easily missed as you drive along the Tamiami Trail as there is nothing around it but the Everglades natural beauty. It's worth the trip for the chance to see a large collection of his work and the chance to purchase a piece of his photography as a memento from your visit to the Everglades. Behind the Gallery includes a short "Swamp Walk" allowing you a chance to be inspired by his collection of photography and make a little collection of your own.

Clyde Butcher is a large format black and white photographer who takes amazing pictures in the everglades and along our coastal shores. His south museum is along Route 41 just east of Everglades City. Over Labor Day you can take a guided swamp walk or rent one of 2 cottages on site in that location.
