If you get time, do book yourself for an afternoon tea at the Walpole hotel and ask to go around the hotel/ museum. Very quirky and a little scary in places...

Beautiful and quirky hotel above Walpole Bay. Come here for a drink, a cream tea, dinner or just to look around the corridors which also serve as a museum.

The future isn't what it used to be but the past is almost still the present here... wisely or unwisely resisting the shifts in the demographic of Margate. If its warm enough for a drink on the terrace, have a snoop inside and dream about when everything was better (it wasn't) but still its nice to dream..... Dont expect a great drinks selection,,,,, think 19080s pubs, its all about the nostalgia. :-)
