One of my favourite buildings in Manchester - it dates back to 1900 and i'd totally recommend popping in for an hour to have a walk around - it feels like you're in Hogwarts!!

Short 10-15 minutes bus ride into the city centre then a short 5 minutes walk to Deansgate. Highly recommended.

For literature lovers, Manchester has an enviable array of libraries, including the architectural Gothic masterpiece John Rylands Library. Commissioned in 1890, the library holds the oldest known piece of the New Testament, the ‘St John Fragment’, along with a number of other treasures. Following extensive refurbishment, the Manchester Central Library has reopened, combining historic features with cutting-edge design.
