En Otavalo la Plaza de los Ponchos, también conocida como Mercado Centenario, es el escenario de la mayor feria artesanal del norte del Ecuador que se realiza todos los sábados a partir de las 7 de la mañana hasta las 6 de la tarde. Aunque la feria se realiza todos los días pero en menor escala, otro día recomendado también es el día miércoles. La temperatura promedio del entorno es de 14°C y está situado a una altura de 2566 m.s.n.m.
