About 3 hours north of Clearlake. If you liked Muir Woods, you will be floored by this state park. Drive the "Avenue of the Giants" scenic drive or hike one of the trails: from the 0.8 mile Rockefeller grove to the 10 mile Bull Creek flats loop. Shaded and therefore doable even in summer. Combine this with a trip to Ferndale.

Stop at the visitor center to get all the info you could possibly need. The volunteers are very helpful, there’s a gift shop and natural history museum. Great place to bring the kids! Interactive.
