A railway bridge built with stone bricks and cement, but without any steel. It was designed and built in 1921 by a Ceylonese (Sri Lankan) engineer and inventor in collaboration with British engineers during the British colonial-era. Note - The railway track is still in use, and it is prohibited by law to walk along the track and on the bridge.

The Nine Arch Bridge also called the Bridge in the Sky, is a bridge in Sri Lanka. It is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country. The Demodara nine arch railway bridge is located between Demodara and Ella railway stations. The construction of the bridge is generally attributed to a local Ceylonese builder, P. K.
