#HostWithHer

Celebrating Airbnb’s incredible female host community this International Women’s Day

Airbnb encourages you to #HostWithHer

At Airbnb, we celebrate the importance of women in our growing community, as well as their inspiring stories.

Embracing this year’s International Women’s Day theme #EachForEqual, Airbnb invites women and allies to #HostWithHer and discover the joy of hosting.

Over 50% of all Airbnb hosts in Asia Pacific today are women, who are using our platform to support their self-made livelihoods and achieving greater financial, professional, and social empowerment. At the same time, they are creating meaningful connections and fostering memorable travel experiences for guests around the world.

Come join our incredible community of women hosts who’re making a positive difference for themselves and for women everywhere. Here are some of their amazing stories:

Gauriben

Gauriben is one of the many women who started hosting as part of an initiative created by the Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) and Airbnb to bring livelihood opportunities to rural areas in India. Gauriben’s house lies in the village of Bakutra in Gujarat province—a thatched-roof house with three small rooms with cots topped with intricately hand-embroidered sheets. As an Airbnb host, she has welcomed guests from around the world and now earns more in a month from hosting on Airbnb than from an entire year of harvesting crops.

Pooja

For Pooja, Airbnb has been a window into a whole new world over the last seven years. She first started hosting in 2013, and has since met guests from different corners of the world that introduced her and her family to a melting pot of new cultures. The global exposure that Pooja received through interacting with her Airbnb guests helped her in her journey from an educator in Bangalore to an Indian cultural ambassador in a top Ivy League university. With Airbnb, Pooja became the first woman entrepreneur in her family and helped support the family of her house-help who lives in a tiny village in West Bengal.
