Hidden from the road, and out of view from the neighbours, it is the perfect retreat and base for your next Taupo adventure. Sunsets are Spectacular, and best viewed from the undercover outside terrace, or while sitting in the Alpine Spa. On a colder evening inside next to the fire.

Nestled in the peaceful area of the Botanical gardens is our place to rest and recharge your mind and spirit. Our retreat is opposite the vast reserve surrounding you with bird song and walks into the lush New Zealand native bush. We have a secluded courtyard to sit and contemplate whilst having a glass of wine and reading magazines from our selection. Enjoy an easy bike to town or "The Lions Walk" on the lakefront on our electric bikes, a super way to see the sights and come home smiling.

Custom-built, eco-friendly, tiny house peacefully nestled among kōwhai, plum, maple & feijoa trees on one of Taupō's township's largest sections (Richmond Heights suburb - 7 minute drive to CBD). Interior design is Scandinavian - light & airy. Recently built, the double-glazing, insulation & heat pump will keep you toasty warm in winter & cool in summer. Screens (unusual in Aotearoa) allow you to catch an evening breeze without uninvited insects sneaking in! Contactless check-in via lockbox.

We would love to welcome you to our exceptional John Scott home/apartment (with radiators!). The New Zealand Architect, John Scott, was an eccentric chap renowned for designing unique buildings. Our home doesn’t disappoint and we are excited to share it with the air bnb community. A self contained wing of our home sits in a tranquil spot. A five minute drive or a stroll along the lakefront will get you into town. We’re a few minutes walk from the Botanical Gardens and the lakefront :-)

Easy walk to the lake and Lake Taupō’s iconic 2 Mile Bay where you can kayak, paddle board and sail or just relax with a beer and one of their wood fired pizzas. Come and enjoy all that Lake Taupō has to offer. Your space comes with a kitchenette, couch, comfy queen bed, muesli and TV with Chromecast. Local shops are less than a 5 minute walk away, well stocked dairy, bottle shop and fish n chips.

Kowhai Retreat

We are a working professional couple who have lived in Taupo for 30 years. We have both been vaccinated for the Covid pandemic. We would like to wish a warm welcome to singles or couples. We do not accommodate infants, children or animals. We are a hop, skip and a jump from the stunning Taupo lake front and easy 25 minute stroll in to town, 3 minutes by car. Happy to host short or longer stays. Super convenient location for our Taupo events!

Our modern home is 15 minutes from Taupō yet feels like a private hideaway. Quiet and secluded, it looks out to Lake Taupō and Mount Ruapehu, with stunning sunsets. Ideal year-round, it has outdoor areas with BBQ, large windows and a double-sided fireplace. Whakaipo Bay is 5 minutes away for swimming or walking, with plenty of bush tracks nearby. Not suitable for children. Washing machine, hairdryer, toiletries and iron not provided.
