The Pinon studio log vacation cabin rental is situated along Bear Creek Canyon at an elevation of 4800 feet. Our southwestern New Mexico location, with its near perfect weather year round is hard to beat! Average 280+ days of sunshine, stunning blue skies and 7"-13" of rain annually provide milder summers and winter weather folks from up north dream about while shoveling snow! The Pinon Log Cabin is our version of a comfortably furnished, rustic studio-type vacation rental perfect for a single or a familiar two. With approximately 430 square feet, this little cabin is big on ease. Unexpected beauty is hidden along the valley where Bear Creek meanders. Sitting at the end of a well maintained 4 mile dirt road, you will find our 360 acres in southwest New Mexico surrounded by ancient cottonwood, Pinon and sycamore trees. (GPS: 32.969224, -108.525218). This "end of the road" cabin along with our 4 other rustic properties, will satisfy your need to disconnect, escape the cold, the crowds, the stress. The quaint Village of Gila is a 10 minute drive away and offers a medical clinic, library, post office, art gallery and is truly the "Gateway to the Gila Forest". Still convenient to major shopping in Silver City, NM and an easy 35 minute drive, you'll enjoy browsing a variety of shops, antique stores and boho, silver, turquoise homemade jewelry bodegas. You'll find a long list of of things to do and see: day or evening fine dining or fast food; multi-cultural cuisine or eclectic funk, Western New Mexico University, our local Farmers Market, theatre, an annual Fiesta, Little Toad Creek Brewery & Restaurant, art galleries, or antique stores (check out Manzanita Ridge)!! Day trips to big cities such as Tucson AZ, Las Cruces NM, and El Paso TX are easily made. Fully furnished, perhaps our personal favorite, the kitchen features custom-designed Italian stone counter tops, a 4-burner stove top, microwave, two apartment-sized refrigerators, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, toaster oven, crock pot/slow cooker, blender, dishes, flatware, cooking pots, utensils and a dinning bar with stools where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. For your convenience, the pantry is supplied with complimentary items such as gourmet spices, condiments, small amounts of sugar, coffee creamer, tea, cooking oil and spray, pasta, rice, microwave popcorn, canned meat chunks, foil. A few miles from your cabin you'll find our local convenience store/gas station stocked with fresh dairy products, eggs, ice cream, bread, canned fruits and vegetables, frozen meat, lunch meat, soda, snacks - open 7 days a week. The hotel quality queen bed beckons you to sleep in just a little longer than usual, all snuggled-up in the luxurious Egyptian cotton linens. The radiant, in-floor heating will keep your toes nice and warm on chilly mornings and, if you are here during the warmer months, you can count on the Air Conditioner to keep you cool! The living area in this quaint little gem features a comfortable Italian leather love seat with matching easy chair with plenty of throw pillows. There is a chest of drawers and vintage cedar armoire. This cabin also boasts a full bath, with shower and tub, and for the evenings when the star-studded sky isn’t quite enough entertainment, there is also a TV/DVD library. Look for any one of the hundreds of breeds of birds who call the Gila High Desert home as you challenge the summit of Turtle Rock or explore the canyons of the Double E Ranch. Trace the path of the Mimbres Indians who lived along Bear Creek and the Gila River 1300 years ago. Uncover their history through pottery pieces, ancient tools, pictographs and remnants of stone dwellings which can still be readily found along Bear Creek. Introduce yourself to the more recent legendary characters who roamed the hills, mountains and towns in this area, including Billy the Kid, Geronimo, and Ben Lily. Magazines (AZ Highways) and books on Arizona points of interest, hiking, fishing, skiing, climbing, etc. Five bikes (and helmets, locks, backpacks) available for use -- extensive bike trails in the area. Take advantage of bicycle trails with 5 bikes provided. Help yourself to citrus, herb garden and veggies!
