Treehouses at Candlelight Forest/Sophie's Roost

Sophie's Roost is one of two treehouses for rent in the Candlelight Forest, a Simpler Times resort 18 minutes from downtown Chattanooga. Sophie's Roost sleeps 6 and has a deck featuring our signature Canopy Kitchette for a unique outdoor grilling experience. The treehouse is professionally decorated by Sophie's of Chattanooga. The Candlelight Forest is central to all the famous Chattanooga attractions, in addition to offering fishing and canoeing on our own Lake Angela. Perched in a beautiful tree canopy, Sophie's Roost is built upon a sloping ridge which provides for very safe and easy access, as the entrance is at ground level. Tamara Dillard, the owner of Sophie's, a home decor shop located in the North Shore district of Chattanooga, professionally decorated Sophie's Roost, hence its name. Upon arrival, a short stroll through the woods (and after dark, under near-magical hanging moon lights) brings you to the front door of your home away from home. A queen bed nook with privacy curtain, an open living area, a full bath, a back porch, and many thoughtful nooks and crannies adorned with decorator surprises provide the downstairs living experience. Up a two-tiered loft ladder, 4 twin beds and a cute half bath await the more adventurous up above. Our own signature Canopy Kitchenette (TM) rounds out the experience. The back porch has a very simple kitchen that includes a stainless wash sink, concrete countertop, toaster, and a gas grill with side burner, all elegantly covered in the shade of an oversized umbrella. Dine upon the custom built-in fold-down table and antique wooden chairs. Sophie's Roost combines the greatest of all vacation experiences - cooking outdoors with shelter to boot, cozy spaces for family fun and romance, and a home base for all the excitement that awaits in this enchanting mountain and valley world only minutes from vibrant Chattanooga. The Candlelight Forest Resort, of which the treehouse is part, is comprised of 200 acres of preserve that includes two small mountain lakes for catch and release fishing, hiking trails, and a park with badminton, corn hole, a fire pit, and a historic marquee tent with family games. The Plucky Peacock is a new farm stand and country store from which our friendly Director of Recreation works to assist you in taking advantage of all our amenities. Television celebrity host Pete Nelson of Treehouse Masters also built a lovely recreational treehouse inside Candlelight Forest about 10 years ago, before he was famous! Guests have full access to their private Treehouse and all of Candlelight Forest, close to 200 acres of preserve including two small mountain lakes, a creek and many trails and amenities. We believe we have carved out a unique niche in the getaway/resort venue industry. We have a devoted team that wants to ensure you have an amazing time at Candlelight Forest, recreating and relaxing yourselves in a world that hearkens back to a simpler time. Our amenities are designed to bring families and loved ones into the great outdoors and closer to each other for the very best of memories. We have a great backdoor into downtown, with no traffic, through our quiet Chattanooga Valley. These accommodations are perfectly located to take in Chattanooga and the many surrounding attractions that abound nearby, including Cloudland Canyon State Park, Rock City, Ruby Falls, and The Chickamauga National Battlefield Park, all about 20 minutes away. Our staff is very eager to help you with ideas outside the gate including great eateries in Chattanooga as well as in the Valley and along Lookout Mountain. We have three other accommodations in the event you want to plan a getaway with friends or a family reunion. We welcome big groups and can help plan some special activities.

Cabin in the woods ! 7 min from downtown !

This custom built rustic log home is about 10 minutes from downtown Chattanooga. Lookout Mountain is about 5 miles from the cabin. We can sleep up to 11 guests. Many large rooms for relaxing & a kids corner! We have several relaxing rocking chairs on our front porch & back screened in porch with a custom bar area and 2 charcoal grills. There are lake views from the front porch as well. Enjoy canoeing, paddle boarding, fishing, hiking, and bon fires. (We provide a canoe, paddle board, & poles)

Tennessee Riverfront Cottage w/HOT TUB on 3 acres

Come spend a relaxing getaway at this cozy cottage on 3 acres with Tennessee River frontage. This home is great for families with plenty of room to spread out and enjoy nature. This home is also one level making it easy to get around! There are hours of explorations to be had whether on land at nearby Prentice Cooper State Park, the Cumberland Trail, and "T-wall" Rock (considered the 4th best rock climbing location in the world) or on the water freshwater fishing, kayaking, or paddle boarding.

This quiet retreat perched on the Cumberland Plateau gives you access to the hikes and waterfalls the area is known for, while offering an elevated guest experience. Swim, fish, take out the canoe or kayak, birdwatch, hike in nearby Savage Gulf or Fall Creek Falls. Go to Chattanooga, take in the sights and come back for an evening by the outdoor fire ring, or inside fireplace. Pick apples at the local orchard or buy Amish goods from the local farms. Unplug and enjoy your life.

Cozy Tiny Home w/large deck, hot tub and firepit

The Trail House is perfectly placed among the trees with many tall windows to take advantage of the gorgeous views. The large 2-tiered deck has two separate sitting areas. Hike, rock climb, bike, cave, kayak, fish, swim at the base of the waterfalls or sit and relax. Do it all, do absolutely nothing, or a little of both here at the Trail House.
