Victorian Cottage in Medieval Village of Alfriston

My house has been described as light and cosy. It is filled with books, art and interesting things - a home from home, not the usual holiday let. Nestled within the South Downs National Park this medieval village has independent and quirky shops, with lots of choices of where to eat & drink. Fabulous walks incl. the Downs, riverside, and nearby the sea, forest & vineyard. In the winter there is a log burner, in the summer a sunny walled garden. A permit is available for parking close by.

Beachy Barn

With wonderful views over the South Downs, this beautiful flint and oak cottage sleeps 6 people in one double room, one single room and one triple room. There are two bathrooms, a downstairs utility room with WC and large open plan kitchen with an extendable dining table. From the kitchen there are three steps down to a comfortable seating area with French doors leading onto a terrace and garden. Dogs are welcome and will receive their own welcome basket, but there is a £45 surcharge per pet.

At the start of a private country track with free parking and with Polegate Station and trains to London in less than 90 minutes, just a short taxi ride away.

Local cultural attractions include Glyndebourne, Drusilla's Park, South Downs Way. This spacious artist's home is located right on the South Downs Way, and it is only about an hour and a half walk to the coast at Exceat. There is a tree house for kids, a couple of swing seats for chilling out on, and the Cuckmere runs through the bottom of the garden.

It’s a 10 minute stroll to the Village Green where you will find the famous Tiger Inn, an excellent Thai Restaurant, Deli on the Green and Hikers Rest Cafe. Enjoy walks on the South Downs Way to Birling Gap, Seven Sisters, Beachy Head and beyond.

Garden Lodge is situated just off the South Downs Way on the edge of Alfriston village. Sited in the back garden of the main house there is access to a private patio area and to the garden. There is farm land bordering the property with views to the Downs. Numerous pubs, hotels and shops are just five minutes walk away in the village centre. It is very dark here at night so if you are not accustomed to it, think about bringing a torch.
