The Understory: Private Retreat with Outdoor Tub

Welcome to The Understory. Nestled deep in the rhododendron covered woods, this romantic hand-crafted tiny home offers you a peaceful and memorable stay just 15 minutes from both Asheville and Black Mountain. Inside consists of 350 square feet of comfortable living space including a rain shower, king sized bed, cozy wood stove and a full kitchen. Surrounding the cabin is another 500 square feet of living space with a deck, outdoor soaking bathtub, and patio with a fire pit and propane grill.

Staying at the Nook you’ll have an experience unheard of in the modern era -- almost everything you touch or interact with was woven, shaped or whittled by hand. *Please note that outdoor bathhouse may not be available during winter months due to low temperatures.

"Wizards Hollow" is one of seven unique homes that make up "Earth & Sky Dwellings" (formally Treehouses of Serenity). We are located 10 mins north of downtown Asheville in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Each property has expansive windows in order to take in the long-range mountain views and includes fully functioning bathrooms. Built in 2010, Waterfall Cottage provides a romantic, comfortable, rustic retreat space in the woods perched just above a magical flowing mountain stream. Both downtown Asheville and the charming town of Black Mountain are only a 10 to 15 minute drive away. Note: While Swannanoa was hit hard by Hurricane Helene, both our property and our woodsy neighborhood community were not severely damaged.
