A rustic, riverfront getaway just downstream from a WVDNR Trout Stock Point, beside the Mountain Rail WV Durbin Station, & 30 miles from Snowshoe. Nestled between WV's highest peaks & within minutes of our country’s best fishing, hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, biking, skiing, hunting, Civil War Sites, & historic trains, River House is a perfect base for all WV has to offer.

Isolated and Peaceful-Cottage in the Woods

The cottage in the woods is the perfect place to relax and unwind, or use as a base to explore the more than 20 attractions just a day trip away! Has all the comforts of home, while enjoying privacy and quiet with no visible neighbors. Newly painted interior in 2023. We offer good cell phone service, WiFi and TV with HULU. Games, books and puzzles provided, or bring your favorites! Convenience store, grocery store, home-cookin' restaurants, and pizza place within 2 miles. Come see us!

Stay in the masterfully crafted Lemuel Chenoweth homestead along the rippling Tygart river. Built in 1857, this 2nd floor suite offers antiques furnishings, a private entrance, master bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, and mud room. It has a queen bed, dresser, large porch with views of the river, a clawfoot tub with shower, sink, toilet, and a well stocked farmhouse kitchenette with a double induction cook top, sink , fridge and more.
