The Stable: a peace-filled, creative retreat

Welcome to The Stable - a serene solo respite, artist’s retreat or unique getaway for 1 to 6 registered guests. Close to I-85 & I-40, Duke, NCCU and the downtown Durham scene. Quaint & artsy Hillsborough, funky & fun Chapel Hill/UNC and Carrboro are a short drive. Eno River State Park, hiking & biking trails, and the Mountains to Sea Trail are 2.5 miles away. Full of unexpected details, including an outside labyrinth, The Stable is a comfortable sanctuary for all who want to settle in and smile.

Timberwood Tiny Home

Timberwood Tiny Home is a place to rest your head & heart in Efland, North Carolina. The peaceful retreat is down a country road approximately 10-minutes from downtown Hillsborough. The 200 square foot tiny home is on a private corner of 8-acres shared with our main house. It features Scandinavian-style details, two beds, a spacious porch, abundant natural light, a wood-fired hot tub, barrel sauna, cold plunge, and more. There are features of the home that may make it unsuitable for children.

Private Cabin on a Winery/Cidery & Blueberry Farm

Stay at a cute cabin located near Botanist and Barrel’s award-winning Cidery and winery on Cedar Grove Blueberry Farm. Your stay includes a complimentary cider flight (and u-pick blueberries when in season). Note: This is a working farm, so you may see farm team members harvesting, and making flower bouquets, in the fields/buildings near the cabin. The Cidery/winery is open every Thursday-Sunday with various events, food pop ups and live music! Check @botanistandbarrel for events!

Artist's Studio

Originally the studio of a visual artist (long ago garden illustrator for The New York Times), this petite building is completely private. Firm queen bed. Mix of antiques and artisanal built-ins. Radiant heat. AC. Mini fridge and microwave, electric kettle, Chemex coffee maker and French Press, excellent wifi. Unique space in one of the best country neighborhoods around. 6.5 miles to Hillsborough healthy grocery store, 8 to Carrboro/Chapel Hill, 18 to Durham. Serene pond and grounds.

Want to get away? A quiet place, surrounded by natural beauty and wildlife, Fortress of Solitude is a modernist one bedroom vacation home. Passive solar design, concrete construction and many windows make this a comfortable, unique and fun place to visit. Relax on the porch with a drink listening to birdsong. Or take a walk and enjoy the 30 acres of property. With no neighbors in sight, this home has excellent privacy and a half mile long driveway. It's a spot!
