Surrounded by the Pentland Hills Regional Park, the Byre cottage offers unique family accommodation for 4 on a hill sheep farm near Edinburgh. The hills offer excellent exploring + hiking from the doorstep. Enjoy stunning views and picnic spots - enjoy the great outdoors and bring the kids! Explore Edinburgh (only a short drive) or picnic on the nearest hill top, then return to sooth your tired legs in the wood fired sauna yurt. Private sauna sessions available as an extra to book on arrival.

Eco loft overlooking garden and stream

This artist and architect-designed house is clad in larch and well insulated with wool felts. The access to the separate loft of our eco-house is via an external staircase. A large south facing window in the main room overlooks the front garden and Shiplaw burn. There is a separate workspace/single bedroom for an extra guest. We are located within one of the biggest habitat restoration projects in Europe and are five minutes walk from a regular bus service to Edinburgh and across the Borders.

The cottage is well situated for exploring the area, being just 5 minutes drive from Rosslyn chapel, (which you can also walk to from the cottage by following the path through the glen.)The Pentland hills are only 10 minutes drive, and it takes less than 30 minutes to get to edinburgh city centre. It is a great place to come home to after a day of hillwalking ,working or sight seeing.

Ideally located on the Railway walk and cycle route 196 to Glenkinchie Distillery , Carberry, Penicuik and surrounding areas. Super comfortable beds with lovely bed linen, comfy sofa bed, en-suite shower room, fridge, kettle, crockery, table and chairs and covered seating area to enjoy the outdoors no matter the weather. All with BBQ/Fire pit.
