Rustigue is a play of words: ‘rustig’ is Dutch for tranquil; the style of the cottage is ‘rustic’ with a combination of all things to love: old, new, done up. The cottage is surrounded by rimu trees, native bush and ferns. It is well away from the main house and has its own driveway, so you have total privacy. Sit quietly in the evening with a glass of wine, around the brazier watching the stars appear, after you have enjoyed the many activities that Mangawhai has to offer. Beach walks, swims, surfing, golf, or any of the many bush walks or local weekend markets.

Black Swan Studio

Welcome to your peaceful boutique hideaway in Mangawhai Heads. We are only 75mins drive north of Auckland, 10 mins off the number one highway. The cottage is built from beautiful untreated hardwoods set in a tranquil private spot, nestled on the edge of a regenerating native forest. The cottage is only a 2min walk down to the beautiful Kaipara Harbour. Our place is part of a 25 year old 300 acre organic permaculture farm, which we were instrumental in setting up as a working farm and village style subdivision.
