Beautiful RUSTIC cabin right beside the lake, super peaceful area with lots to explore. The cabin is filled with lots of neat memorabilia from the old summer camp that used to inhabit the land. We stayed in mid October and it was starting to get pretty chilly (space heater only, building is not insulated) This is one step above glamping so be prepared.

Being at Carole's place was a total pleasure. If I could, I'd spend a lot of time living on a boat, and this was about as close as possible to that experience, only much more comfortable. I loved being able to see all that was going on in the bay - a lobster boat with a happy dog aboard, a kayak - but mostly birds, including a few visits from a couple of Bald Eagles. For anyone who enjoys nature and privacy, this place is heaven.

My husband and I had a great 3-night stay at Liz’s cabin. It was an enchanting place to spend a rainy long weekend with all the warmth and coziness that one would want from a cabin in the woods. As others have noted, the location is superbly private and relaxing! We loved sitting by the fire, having our morning coffee on the enclosed porch and walking the pond-side trails right outside the front door. The cabin makes for a great jumping-off point, too, for lots of great things to explore in the midcoast including Odd Ale Wives, Oxbow Brewing and some great eats in Damariscotta. We really enjoyed our time. Liz and her husband were awesome hosts.

Highly recommend John's place. Perfect location - could walk to beach and get to other areas quickly. John was an excellent host. There to answer any questions, wasn't intrusive, and made a mean cup of coffee. Having the coffee shop next door was a HUGE perk! Place was spotless upon arrival and check in was seamless. I was pleasantly surprised that the place was larger than I expected. The primary suite had a a bonus seating area that I don't believe I saw in the photos as well as a small room on the first floor that had a daybed. We will surely be a repeat customer.

My return visit to the Boathouse was even lovelier than I hoped it would be. The location can't be matched by anything else I've seen. I enjoyed a September visit with my dog and was lucky to have pristine weather. I lived a very simple and healthy outdoors life and came home the better for it. The Boathouse is true to its description: it is simple and rustic and uncomplicated but well-equipped, and is perfect for one-and-dog, or for two people. A little coming-and-going from the neighboring houses meant that I didn't feel isolated. Margaret is truly an exceptional and friendly host who communicates promptly and clearly. I almost hesitate to share "my" Boathouse location with too many of my back-home friends because it feels so intimate and special. I already want to be back there. I offer my deep thanks to Margaret and to the place that I could - briefly - call home.

Crissy and this beautiful cozy cabin in the woods, are both wonderful! Arrangements couldn’t be easier, lots of recommendations for things to do, but just hanging out in the home is nice too. Great place to unwind.

We've been coming to this cabin every year and it's always the perfect peaceful getaway!

This is run by a company that is remote, not on site and therefore not familiar with the seasonal changes in terms of closures and what is actually available at a particular time of year.

This is a little slice of paradise. I came here to do nothing, essentially--read & swim for a few days in beautiful, quiet surroundings. Diane was immediately welcoming with a warm greeting and quick tour. You have privacy here, but if you need anything, she is right next door. I couldn't recommend staying here more highly! The Windhaven Guesthouse is a beautifully and thoughtfully decorated gem of a place, tucked in among the trees between two sections of stunning rocky beach and shoreline. The guesthouse isn't directly on the water but you can see the ocean through the trees and hear it night, and you have immediate access to private natural beaches to enjoy at your leisure. We explored several of Vinalhaven's Land Trust nature trails and sanctuaries, but enjoyed watching the tide come and go on the stretches of beach directly around the guesthouse very much as well. The gardens on the property are lovely as well. Just beautiful.

The house is clean, the bed was comfortable, the location was amazing. We were not ready to leave the island. We found so many hidden beautiful places on the island and saw the most amazing sunset, explored tide pools and saw so many deer. We hiked every day and every place had something different to offer.

We had a great time at Above & Beyond. A perfect spot to take in the scenery. We had a great time. Would certainly recommend this as a unique spot to stay at. Very private and we had everything we needed. Access to the beach offers beautiful view of the sunset.

We loved getting the chance to be right up by the water and appreciated the quiet and serene location! While it may not be the biggest place to stay it definitely has everything you need and is a really impressive little cottage. I will say you definitely do need to heed the warning about the stairs and getting in and out of the bathtub (not something we struggled with but definitely could be a struggle for young children or someone less mobile). Rock was a great and responsive host and we would love to come back during a warmer time period where we could enjoy the surrounding outdoors a little more and utilize this place again!

My husband and I stayed at Amelia’s house for a quick getaway and we wished we could have stayed longer. The house is cozy and we felt right at home. And the grounds were just stunning! Sunsets were the best! It was a very relaxing space to be in and a great location to be in to make day trips in the area. Would definitely stay here again, and might even bring the kids!

Simply perfect! Everything in the kitchen is new, in working order, extremely well-stocked. The home is clean and comfortable with amazing fine art everywhere. And the view! We couldn't get enough of the beauty, watching the Ospreys fishing, walking the little beach. Lots of hiking close-by. Rockland has great seafood market, bakery, bookstore. The Transportation Museum is excellent.

Tom's cottage, Windows By The Sea, exceeded our expectations. Our two boys (6 and 9) spent hours every day searching for shells and kayaking. We caught little green crabs and hermit crabs and attracted some larger crabs as well. The beach in front of the house is great, and the water is very calm in the cove. The "abandoned" beach behind the house is beautiful, easily accessible, and a little more wild. Another great spot for shell-hunting. The cottage is great, and just what you want for that location. Despite it being pretty hot (for Maine) when we were visiting it was never hard to sleep at night with the windows open and the cool breeze off the water. The only fan we used was in the master bedroom upstairs for a little more air movement. I wasn't sure how much I'd want to use the outdoor shower but it felt amazing every night after a long day on the beach. We loved our stay and I'm sure Islesboro will be seeing more of our family in the future.

This is our second stay at Fox Bluff in the last eight months, and we plan to come back many more times. It’s a beautiful home, and Lo is a brilliant host. She checks in regularly to make sure you have everything you need, but isn’t intrusive. The house is extremely well equipped, but uncluttered and airy. Secluded and peaceful, but not remote. There are a few nice restaurants and shops ~5 minutes drive away, in Brooklin, and then larger Blue Hill is a pleasant 20 minute drive: there’s a top-notch independent bookstore, Blue Hill Books; the Blue Hill Co-Op; excellent coffee at Bucklyn Coffee; nice restaurants and shops, etc. There are great trails and shoreline spots all across the peninsula, plus kayaking, sailing, beachcombing, etc. So many stars at night! We’ve always felt comfortable, safe and welcome in the house, and with Lo as our host. It’s our special place and will become yours, too.

we absolutely LOVED staying here. the place was perfect for everything we were looking for; activities, shops, food. Barbara was responsive and very helpful. the okce was amazin, cannot stress enough how perfect the stay was!

This was such a treasure of a stay and one of the best trips I've had in a long time, thanks to the joys of this beautiful home. It's located along the coast and near the adorable town of Camden, Maine, which we also fell in love with. As soon as you see this house, you will fall in love and walking in the front door to the view of the bay beyond the windows is an experience. The house had everything we needed and more, the beds were very comfortable, the fireplace was easy to use and such a treat, and the kitchen was well-stocked and more spacious than the photos make it seem. Tobias was a fantastic remote host, providing all sorts of recommendations and checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. They ensured our walk was shoveled immediately after a heavy snow and their family who owns the cooking school next door even offered us a tour during their off-season break. I cannot wait to come back with my mother and sisters.

Amazing view! Very clean house, well decorated and lots of basic amenities to feel at home in the kitchen or just lounging on the couch or porch. Sitting on the porch was my favorite part of the house. The beds are comfortable and plenty of sleeping space for 6 of us (4 adults/2 kids). You can’t beat the view and especially during sunset! Host was very responsive and helpful. Location is good. The general store and a couple restaurants are within walking distance. Since the fire a few months back, the one restaurant is currently operating out of a food truck but still the same delicious food. Most other places require a short drive. There’s a small beach nearby, which we also took advantage of during low tide.

We just completed our second summer and are still in awe of everything this property has to offer. From the amenities inside to water accessibility, access to many fabulous restaurants, and complete silence from every corner of the property, this house on this island gives you everything you could ever hope for in a summer retreat. George is a fantastic host, extremely responsive, and always willing to help. The property is well-kept, and the house is clean and full of additional supplies. You can't look for much more than what this property offers.

We stayed at Jonathan’s place for my bachelorette trip to Maine and it was absolutely perfect for a quiet ladies weekend with beautiful surroundings. The house had nearly everything we needed, and everything we weren’t able to bring or find at the house could easily be purchased at the nearby Fales Store that Jonathan recommended. The kitchen was impressively well-stocked and we had more than enough blankets, towels, etc. to accommodate 11 women. Jonathan’s place provided a halfway point between Portland and Acadia National Park where we spent part of our weekend in peak fall color. It’s also a short 30min drive from Camden Harbor where we chartered a sailboat before coming back to a cozy fire in the wood burning fireplace and a gas firepit in the backyard. The house had plenty of space for all of us to sleep and to socialize. Jonathan was very responsive at check-in and check-out. We felt so welcome - 10/10 would recommend, we had an incredible weekend!

Our family of 9, ranging in ages from 2-94 loved our visit here!! They house is open, comfortable, kitchen is well stocked with what is needed for a range of cooking. Big family style pots made serving up dinner for 9 a breeze. The layout provides tons of privacy and with 4 full baths, no issues with larger groups. Located on a picturesque cove with granite, spruce and marsh grass, this island is magical. Many hours exploring the waters edge. I agree with past renters that the walk from parking to the house was long and on an uneven surface that's not comfortable to traverse. My mother (94 y/o) thought she could manage. It's too uneven for a walker. We walked with someone on each side of her nearly carrying her, glad it wasn't raining. My mother loved the house and location. It's required to take all your trash and recycables about 15-20 minutes away. Check times and days open, we made that mistake. Also you'll need the transfer station pass which the property provides.

WE loved the cabin - really cozy and right on the water. Loved watching the changing tide. Jill
