This Meiji-era Kyo-machiya in Nishijin, Kyoto is a two-story townhouse with a tiled gabled roof preserving details of its time. The first floor has two tea rooms once used as a retreat, while upstairs offers a tatami room with alcove and adjoining space. Designated by Kyoto City as a Historic Scenic Landscape Building, it reflects craftsmanship, commerce, and hospitality. Beyond a narrow alley lies a quiet garden and tea room. Traditional Japanese House in Nishijin Area

This 100-year-old traditional Japanese machiya house once served as a Kimono textile factory. Craftsmen used traditional wooden weaving looms to create kimono fabrics, which are still displayed on the 1F. This house preserves its Kyoto-style charm with its high ceilings, wooden beams, and tatami rooms. The 1F includes a tatami room, renovated bathroom with a wooden bath, and a washing machine. Upstairs is another tatami room, a modern kitchen, additional shower and toilet, and a dining room.
