We’d love for your happy beach memories to be made here at our cottage by the sea, The Whimsy Whale. Our island cottage is perfectly placed under a canopy of magnificent live oaks, about 300 steps away from the ocean. Nestled on a quiet beach access street, central to all the best attractions, shopping and eateries on Oak Island; close to attractions in Southport. It is one of our favorite places to spend time together and we look forward to sharing it with you, your loved ones and friends.

Cozy Rustic OCEAN FRONT Cottage

Enjoy this old-school cottage with knotty pine walls. Pet friendly. Deck seating, gorgeous sunrise/sunset views. Walk directly to beach. Half mile walk to pier. Spacious open living area. Large dining table for games and puzzles. 3 BR (2 full, 4 twin). 1 Full bath, one half bath. During season stay Sunday to Sunday, Sun to Thurs or Thurs to Sunday. Check in ANY DAY during the off season for as little as three days. Pets allowed with pet fee. Please provide your linens (sheets and towels)

While in Southport, enjoy the shops, the majestic Live Oaks, dine at fabulous cafes & restaurants with water views, take a carriage ride, watch the boats go by, go on a ghost walk or tour a museum. Southport has something for eveyone!

"Hooked on Holden" Beach House

Our family duplex has joined the Airbnb movement and is centrally located on the island, midway between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intercoastal Waterway, often referred to as third row. The public assess walkway is only minutes away and was recently rebuilt. It is now handicap accessible and there are NO STEPS! This summer the check in and check out days are Sunday to Sunday. This is a change, but is needed to get the best cleaners to get everything ready for your week.

MILE TO THE ISLE 1.8 miles to Holden Beach bridge

Renovated and Immaculate comfortable beach cottage in a quiet neighborhood yet just 1.8 miles from the Holden Beach bridge. Shopping and dining are 15 minutes away in Shallotte. Myrtle Beach and Wilmington are both within an hours drive. If you prefer to relax, you can sit on the 10' x 22' deck just outside the kitchen door, or by the fire pit, on a rocking chair or the swing in the open back yard, which is ideal for playing fetch with your dog.
