Shekinah Hermitage: Peace at the Forest’s Edge

Shekinah Hermitage is at 8000ft. overlooking the Cibola N. F. This unique cabin looks into a canyon to the north, and eastward over the San Agustin Plains. Surrounded by juniper and pinion trees, it is very remote. Windows all around give the feel of being outdoors but the solid structure is immovable in high winds. Inside is all you need including limited solar-battery 120V electricity. There is an attached bathroom with a sawdust composting toilet. Outside a high deck offers stunning views.

This pristine little Scandinavian D-log cabin sits on over 2 quiet wooded acres a brief 5-minute drive from uptown Pagosa (our more commercial area with nicer grocery store, dining, brewery, Walmart, etc) and about 10 minutes to the springs (downtown). Your experience is enhanced with a gas grill, outdoor seating/dining table, fully outfitted kitchen, and even a clearing for campfire and stargazing. Deer and wild turkeys are frequent visitors. The cottage, which has been completely renovated, was once the blacksmithing shop for the homesteaders who settled here over a 100 years ago. Tocayo is a working farm with both a sheep operation and a commercial garden. Private patio with grill, plenty of parking, wildlife and great views.
