Rustic cabin w/sauna on Portage Lk

Located on Portage Lake in Chassell, MI, near Houghton with quick access to Michigan Tech University, this rustic family cabin is a great place for either an overnight stay or a longer getaway. It provides a great home base for travel in the Keweenaw peninsula! As a 1930s cabin with a sauna on the lake along with a great view, the focus is on the experience! We find guests who truly enjoy our place are flexible with rustic conditions (not looking for Holiday Inn Express) and young at heart!

Tiny Home Glamping in the Keweenaw - 12 min to MTU

High-end glamping in the Keweenaw Peninsula. This tiny house/cabin features two lofts with queen-sized beds, a wood burning fireplace, dock with paddle boat on two acre pond, access to the Pike River and 20 acres of land for hiking and recreation. Cook in the kitchen or over the outdoor fire pit. Enjoy a wood-fired sauna and cool off with a dip in the pond. Bring a fishing rod and catch dinner out of the pond or the river! No running water but indoor composting toilet and a rain barrel/sink.

Our peaceful 5-bedroom lakefront home is 4 miles from Houghton and is conveniently located near the airport, Michigan Tech, Mont Ripley (3 miles) and Mount Bohemia (38 miles). Snowmobile trails are only 1/3rd of a mile away and you can ride your sled from here. Enjoy spectacular views of the lake, kayaking, and campfires on the patio. Our area is full of history and charm. Come visit! Parking for 3 trucks, plus trailers. Please Note: We charge $10 per night per person over 2 people.

The Mill duplex is located just minutes from Michigan Tech in the quaint town of Chassell MI. Apartment A is the perfect destination for business travelers or for couples looking to explore the Keweenaw Peninsula. When you stay at the The Mill, you will enjoy the private bedroom, an efficient yet well equipped kitchen, and a private patio area. Prepare for a relaxing and comfortable stay that won’t break the bank! In 2025, a portion of all bookings will donated to local youth baseball.

Nice, clean apartment just 5 minutes from Michigan Tech and a view of Portage Lake (lake access too!). One stall of garage parking available so you can go right from car to apartment without dealing with the snow. The driveway is plowed. Wifi, heat, keurig coffee selection included. Washer and dryer are in the spacious bathroom with a shower. Full kitchen and electric fireplace. Stairlift from garage. Queen sized bed with additional pullout couch (about full sz) and toddler bed.

A cozy apartment space with room to spread out. Featuring a modern kitchen and bath with all the amenities one might need while visiting our beautiful area. Featuring ensuite laundry, full size cook top, and full size refrigerator; whether your here for a day or a few weeks, there is room to spread out. A spacious bathroom with a large shower and sinks to make preparing for your day smooth. Located on the second floor over a future coffee shop seating area, stairs to the second level.

Luxury Lakeview Escape

Experience a seamless blend of elevation and tranquility in this distinctive retreat. Designed with the living space on the upper level, you’ll be positioned approximately 25 feet above ground, capturing sweeping views of the water and surrounding landscape. The home features three private ensuite suites—each with its own dedicated bathroom and shower. Full-home A/C provides an added level of comfort, a rare luxury in the area. BBQ available upon request. Located in the garage.

Otter House

Otter House is a beautifully appointed log cabin in the trees overlooking Otter Lake. It is comfortably furnished with a well equipped kitchen. The lakefront has a small beach, 3 kayaks, a canoe, hammocks and a fire pit. Otter Lake is a tranquil spot with great fishing and very little boat traffic. There is a parking pad for your RV or trailer. *Please note that the entry is on the basement level and the main living area is up a flight of stairs.

Relax at this rustic and tranquil getaway. What it offers: One queen bed, one sofa sleeper, parking, microwave, toaster oven, hot plate, WIFI, Roku TV, coffee maker, 3/4 bathroom, a fantastic view, nestled on Pike Bay, 20 gallon hot water heater. Instant snowmobile access to the lake in winter. Air conditioning in summer and 2 wall furnaces for warmth in winter. What it doesn't have: Oven, automatic dishwasher, laundry facilities.

This historic building is formally known as the Chassell Community Center and was home to three consecutive state championship teams in the late 1950's. This beautiful piece of history was converted to residential living in February of 2022 and features a spacious open-concept layout, an upper and lower floor plan, high ceilings, hardwood floors, and modern finishes. *More photos to follow soon
