The Jod-Tod Qila (JTQ) is a luxurious mud cottage that is nothing short of a piece of hand-sculpted art. Experience living in a real Hobbit House, complete with a round wooden door, living green roof, walls made of earth and surprising nooks and niches all over. The cottage is a 900 mtr easy hike from the road.There is a mountain spring flowing next to the backyard garden. We are a permaculture farm, located inside the Naina Devi bird conservation forest.Paid experiences are also available.

Listing for 2 rooms. Welcome to the heirloom home of the Bhatt family, in Aniya, Kotabagh, Nainital. Built in 1942 & 1983. The home follows traditional Indian architecture. It has a wooden skeleton and uses a mud plaster, keeping it cool. Located in forested hills, abutting the Dabka river- 200 meters away. Spacious veranda with old, shady trees. Base for multiple treks, hikes, forest & river-side camps. Village is popular among birding enthusiasts. Multiple outdoor seating arrangements.

The last 7 years have been an incredible learning experience. Since we moved to the village, the priorities have changed. There was a sense of discovery in everything we did. There were chai-filled conversations with elders and young turks and stories on how homes and communities were built. It's these learnings that led us to build these earth homes. Kumaon has been a great teacher. And we hope we've done justice to her sustainable ways.

Kaaya Attic Room

Kaaya's attic room is a twin story mud earth house, connected by an external staircase with one washroom on the ground floor. The campus has ample free sit-out spaces. It's perfect for families, couples, and solo travelers. Homegrown food in the nature cafe and peaceful surroundings will just make you stay longer ;) Remember, Air Conditioning (AC) is not available in any room. Ground floor is earth cooled and only a fan is sufficient
