Enjoy this beautiful lakefront property with fun things to do in any season. Backwoods lodge is perfect for large gatherings as there are two cabins on the property for your use. There is a pontoon boat included in your stay (there is NO public boat launch on this lake)! Backwoods Lodge is your home away from home with activities such as a poker table, pool table, fire pit, paddle board, canoe, volleyball court, corn hole, private lake access, as well as snowmobile trails. Furry friends welcome!

Cozy Trailside Nordic Forest Cottage

Welcome to the Trailside Gökotta Forest Cottage: a modern, minimalist and serene nature cabin on the Birkie Trail system. Gökotta means 'to get up early to listen to sounds of birds and the forest'. Located right on Birkie Ridge Trailhead with close access to vast CAMBA trails, this is a nature escape for outdoor enthusiasts who love to bike, ski, hike, and bird watch. Enjoy ski-in ski-out to groomed trails, bike-in bike-out right onto trails, then cozy up by the woodstove or fire-pit at night.

Haakon House

Relax with family and friends at a Northwoods retreat. The cabin is a newer build at the end of a quiet road near the start line for the Prince Haakon cross country ski race. It can accommodate large groups with as many as 12 in the cabin on beds and pull out furniture (plus a bunkhouse). Connect to CAMBA mountain bike and American Birkebeiner Nordic ski trails from the front door, through private trails and the Mosquito Brook trailhead. Enjoy the screen porch and comfortable accommodations!

Valkommen to our Scandinavian-style retreat. Built in the '40s, this cabin has its original character and charm, with modern style and convenience. It's walking distance to the cute town of Hayward and is on the Birkebeiner ski trail, meaning you can watch the race right from the deck. Relax with a lake view from every room, hit the ski or bike trails, or take the canoe, kayak, or paddle board up the river and get up close to the wildlife—as they say in Norway, Stikk ut! Our layout is set up as a small fishing resort. Gramma and Grandpa hand built and cleared the land almost 70 years ago. The took pride in their work and created comfortable, solid cabins. As i have taken over in the last 2 years I have added small modern touches while maintaining the natural, old school feel. We are present as much as possible to help with anything arises but we like to give our guests space to do their own thing.

Backyard trails and Lake Hayward!

Stay in one of the oldest structures in Sawyer County with private Lake Hayward frontage in your front yard and the Birkie trail, atv and snowmobile trails in the backyard! You can hike, bike, ski, or ride the trails directly from our yard. Plenty of parking-driveway is a loop. Cabin was completely renovated top to bottom in spring of 2021. Enjoy serenity and country feel but also close proximity to Hayward. (2 miles to main street)

Rustic Pines Lodge is your ideal woodland retreat, just 5 miles from downtown Hayward. Perfectly situated for outdoor enthusiasts, the property provides seamless access to a variety of activities. Enjoy direct entry to private trails leading to the Birkie (the trail system overlaps the driveway!), or explore nearby ATV and snowmobile routes, only half a mile from the property.
