There are many great restaurants in and near the Belhaven neighborhood. All of my recommendations are locally owned and within 10 minutes of the guest suite.
A long-time favorite among Jacksonians. Walker's hasn't been an actual drive-in for MANY years, yet it retains its 1950s look. Table cloths and candles come out for dinner, and reservations are recommended. (Save room for their bread pudding!)

Named after the only children's book written by Belhaven neighborhood author Eudora Welty, the Shoebird is located in the Belhaven University student center, and across the street from the author's lifelong home. Northshore Specialty Coffee is served and sold, as well as sandwiches, pastries, etc.

A locally owned shop new to town, Spectrum Sip has a wide variety of drinks, from coffee and tea, to juices and health smoothies. I stayed at an AirBNB across the street for a month and saw a steady flow of customers every morning.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Belhaven is named after the university in the center of the neighborhood. The first "suburb" of Jackson, built just north of the city, the neighborhood features a wide variety of architectural styles, and no two homes are alike.

History and the beautiful homes are the biggest local attractions. Go and enjoy a look into the past, enjoy great restaurants and local art. Natchez is about two hours away via the beautiful Natchez Trace, a historic Native American highway from Nashville to Natchez.
Sightseeing
Opened in 2017, the complex is TWO museums in one. The Mississippi Civil Rights Museum traces the history of American slavery and the long struggle for freedom, as well as discrimination against various minority groups. I was very impressed with the quality of this museum.
The Mississippi History Museum is explores the history of the state of Mississippi. I have not personally been to the new museum, but the old museum was very good, and I am confident this one is as well.

The Mississippi History Museum is explores the history of the state of Mississippi. I have not personally been to the new museum, but the old museum was very good, and I am confident this one is as well.
The Pulitzer prize-winning author moved to this home, just two blocks away, during her senior year of high school and continued living in the home until her death in 2001. All of her books were written in an upstairs bedroom.
