(About a 12 minute walk.) I have always loved this place for lunch or dinner, and it's my number one place to take friends. The reason: excellent Tex-Mex food, great prices--and they are super friendly!

(Two blocks away.) This is a great grocery store! Not the biggest in Austin, but it's pretty darn big and easy to get around. You can find just about anything you want there and of course the prices at HEB are unbeatable. They're open till late. And practically in my back yard!

5808 Burnet Rd(Two blocks away.) This is a great grocery store! Not the biggest in Austin, but it's pretty darn big and easy to get around. You can find just about anything you want there and of course the prices at HEB are unbeatable. They're open till late. And practically in my back yard!

(About a 12 minute walk.) Canopy has about half a dozen art galleries (openings almost every weekend), plus a really great coffee shop, Sa-Ten. It's one of the main cultural "poles" of the Govalle neighborhood.

One of half a dozen cool bars on Webberville, about a 12 minute walk. This used to be near UT, but when their building was torn down they came and joined the Webberville Road pub row near my house. Especially beloved by UT grad students, especially those who are fans of UK football! It still has that dark wood-paneled English pub feel. Good grub selection--one of the best of all the Webberville Road bars.

This used to be near UT, but when their building was torn down they came and joined the Webberville Road pub row near my house. Especially beloved by UT grad students, especially those who are fans of UK football! It still has that dark wood-paneled English pub feel. Good grub selection--one of the best of all the Webberville Road bars.
