We will take a cultural walk around the Palenqe of Benkos, off the beaten path, where you will be immersed in the Africa hidden in Colombia. We named it Black Legacy Experience, because it is definitely an essential place for our black history in Colombia. This town hosts a sort of spin off of Cartagena's history in timeline. There, we meet our friend, the native guide and we start our walk. Our first stop, after a short drive from picking you up: fresh & energized for adventure, from a pre-arranged central (town) Tulum location, will be the Archeological Zone of Tulum-Mayan Port City Ruins. 
Through the mysterious, well-preserved, ruins of temples surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds, where we will be watched by the many inquisitive iguana that now call this temple home. During our exploration of the grounds I will share with you some of the known/unknown, story of the Maya, one of the most advanced and sophisticated cultures, our world has ever known, 
A short drive away from the temple is Tulum Beach where we will go by boat, piloted by Mayan guides, out to the 2nd largest coral reef on the planet, The Great Mayan Reef, where you will snorkel with brightly coloured fish of all sizes and also with the resident reef Manta Rays and Turtles!. 
Following our amazing reef snorkel, we will leave Tulum and visit one of the areas 160 nearby publicly accessible cenotes, I will explain what cenotes are, and how vital they are to the ecology for the peninsula, will jump from the edge of this hidden crystal clear water hole or perhaps just have a relaxing snorkel

The Experience lasts 2.5-3.5 hours depending on how long you would like to be at each waterfall and swim in the natural pools. You do not have to swim if you do not want to. Once we get to the Waterfalls you will get to swim in the 10 natural pools or jump from the top of the waterfalls. On our way back you will have the pleasure to taste the local cuisine at La Casita del Sabor (The Home of Flavor), cooked by the Grandmother of Las Monas town. It's the perfect tour if you want to be with nature & local culture. *IMPORTANT* Hike starts easy & gets a more difficult as the hike goes on so not suited for anyone with a handicap or something that may put you at a disadvantage. From the start of the river to the 1st waterfall is ~1km (15-20 mins) then will see new waterfalls every 50-100 meters. Approx ~7km total round trip.

After booking our experiences, you will arrive at our kitchen where you will be very welcome and where you will share a good time with an authentic Costa Rican family. After introducing ourselves and getting to know each other over a refreshing drink, we will take you on a tour of our organic garden, where you will learn about the different crops and aromatic plants, followed by picking some of the ingredients that we will use for the preparation of our dish. When we return to the kitchen we will prepare a refreshing mojito to proceed to prepare a typical dish with fresh ingredients, produced by us and our neighbors. At the end of the preparation of the dish, we will consume everything prepared in a family atmosphere. If you come with more time than agreed there is a good chance to observe some animals such as frogs, birds and sloth that live in our garden.

After a journey, on a ground transportation, of more than 8km in the middle of the jungle, we will immerse ourselves in a cave and underground river system for a guided exploration, crossing the most surreal rock formations. Helmets well screwed on the head, and water shoes on, we will let our lights pierce the darkness and silence to make way for a world as ancient as magical. During the first part of the visit, which is mainly conducted walking and does not require any specific swimming level, you will understand the deep relationships that link the Mayan civilization and the jungle to the majestic Cenotes. In the last part, we will have the opportunity to swim, relax and snorkel in a fantastic and out of this world natural pool.   We will recover from our emotions and share around a meal composed of local specialties cooked in the jungle on a fire pit. This magical experience starts in our meeting spot in our town Chemuyil, where we will get ready for our adventure. Our day starts by meeting at our office located 20 min away from Liberia downtown through the small villages of Colorado and Curubande. We count with two parking lots at our location in Curubande where you can leave your car safe while we do the hike. From Curubande we will take a 4WD for 1 km that will take us to the entrance of the waterfall trail and here is where the hike begins. The waterfall is well hidden away on the outskirts of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano . The trail is 1.3 Miles (2 Kilometers) singletrack so together it is 4 km. There are some climbing to do in elevation and some caves to go across. Later to reach the waterfall we have to swim 25 meters through a beautiful turquoise river canyon. This is a local experience that takes place where the Blanco and the Colorado rivers cross through, forming canyons and beautiful scenery which is why the water in their pools have that special turquoise tint.

You can also choose from multiple start times for a time that suits you. The Tulum Archaeological Zone is one of the most famous and historical Mayan Ruins in Quintana Roo, Mexico. The name Tulum actually means ‘wall or enclosure’ in the Mayan language. It was originally built to be a seaport fortress with a large limestone wall and a steep ocean cliff providing protection. Out of the many cities that the Mayan people have built, Tulum is actually pretty recently constructed. It was also an important place of worship, dedicated to the ‘Great Descending God’. You’ll see restored buildings, panoramic views, stone structures, and more. With the help of your friendly certified guide, you’ll get to learn about the historical significance of the ruins and the Mayan people who lived there.
