Les murs défensifs ont été construits entre 1413 et 1421, protégeant l'ancien village et les hameaux environnants. Ce "château", situé près de l'église paroissiale était occupé par des familles nobles comme les Castriota Scanderbeg à partir de 1495, sous Ferdinand d Aragon.
