Karu ō te Kiwi | Stunning views over Farewell Spit

The name 'Karu ō te Kiwi' translates to 'Eye of the Kiwi' in Te Reo Maori- The Spit forms the ‘birds eye view’ of Golden Bay into the shape of New Zealand’s very own national bird - the kiwi. Enjoy a 10 minute walk down the drive to the beach. The views encompass the sweeping arch of Farewell Spit, the bright blue waters of Tasman Bay and the tree clad hills. Enjoy the private walking tracks throughout the property, encounter the birdlife, explore the astounding natural beauty of Golden Bay, take your bike for a ride, fossic for gold or simply sit by the fire and relax. Peaceful, if you want a quiet nights sleep in a self contained cottage, this is it! Panoramic sea views in a rural garden setting & native bush surrounds. Don't forget to go outside and look up at the stunning night sky, you'll see the milky way. 5 minutes drive from Takaka & central to everywhere in Golden Bay. Very comfortable and modern bathroom with underfloor heating. Private deck from bedroom with sea view. Full kitchen facilities. Smart TV with movies. Wonderful birdlife.

Beachfront escape

Located in a quiet rural setting along side the Kahurangi National Park, with beach access just over the road this is a great spot to base yourself for Golden Bay's adventures or relax with a book for a picnic on the beach. Its a short walk to the café and shops and all sorts of options around for activities including: kayaking, beach biking, a variety of hikes, fishing, swimming, caving and rock climbing. This unit is on the ground floor of our home. We live upstairs with our 2 children.

Kōtuku Cottage - spacious seclusion by the water

This quiet cottage is nestled amongst mature native trees in iconic Totara Avenue, 10 mins from Collingwood, and overlooking a tidal estuary and bush-clad hills, with the beach just over the road. The spacious open plan kitchen, dining, living area is private and sunny. The main bedroom has a queen bed, while the second bedroom has a queen and two singles in a bunk. Kōtuku has a wooden deck along two sides, where you can sit and enjoy the view, or you can watch the tides from a private jetty.

Ocean view, farm, bush, peacocks

Take it easy and embrace the ambience and privacy of Soggy Bottom farm, situated in a beautiful location with spectacular views over farmland, sea, and across to Farewell Spit. With the property backing onto Kahurangi National Park, the house is surrounded by lawns and native bush including a small family of Peacocks. Bird lovers will enjoy the song of the native Tui and Bellbird. The beach is at the end of the drive way and is a popular spot for King fishing and white baiting. See you soon!

ParaPara River Retreat, tranquil, private, cosy

This well crafted stone cottage is close to beautiful Golden Bay bush walks, old historic gold workings, lonely beaches, the Mussel Inn, swimming holes and much more. A striking building nestled in a tranquil and private setting, makes for a relaxing stay that would suit couples and solo adventurers alike. Literally on Kahurangi National Park's doorstep! The host's partner has developed an extensive network of tracks , some easy walks and some more challenging, with great views of the bay.

The 'Flax Pod' cabin in Pohara, amazing sea views

Our unique Flax Pod cabin is a repurposed shipping container with epic views of Golden Bay. It suits a relaxed couple, has a comfy queen bed, sofa and kitchenette. Large bi-folding doors open onto a deck where you can totally relax, enjoy a cold beer, sink into a quirky hot tub and soak up the sea views. Its in a great location and a great base to explore Golden Bay from. Enjoy getting back to the basics, dozing in a hammock, a friendly weka or two and a spectacular night sky.

Retro Glamping and a View

On a quiet small lifestile block the recently restored caravan is facing northeast with a view to mountains and sea. Collingwood and the beach is only 1 min away. Wharariki Beach and Farewell Spit about15 min. A small fully equiped kitchen, a seperate bedroom and spacious seating area awaits you inside. Your private Bathroom and Toilet is about 20m away in the main house. You can enjoy the peaceful setting in a way like camping used to be 40 years ago.
