Such a lovely, peaceful location -the perfect place to lose yourself in and shut off from the world. Cozy and comfortable, with everything we needed for a break. Nigel was the most welcoming host, friendly and attentive. We will definitely be returning!

Stayed at the end of September for 3 nights and loved every minute of it. My 12 year old dog was like a puppy again, darting around and lazing in the long grass near the hut and it's not exactly like she's deprived of the countryside at home. From the moment we arrived we felt at home and the view is beautiful. The cabin is beautifully laid out with a small table and chairs and a good selection of crockery and cutlery as well as pans and a kettle which can all be used on the woodburning stove, which we did every morning for coffee. The stove does push out a lot of heat so be prepared to open a window. Plenty of kindling and logs and if you need more you only need to walk 1 minute to the house to ask Robert or Vicky for some - and they are lovely people. All in all highly recommended but this is not glamping-no WiFi, electricity or mains water in the hut but the communal area and showers are 2 minutes walk away and was no problem during our stay. Highly recommended!!

Sooo cosy and welcoming. Fresh flowers and biscuits in shepherds hut with some creative decs and basic utensils for cooking as well as wood for burner plus a few books. Communal area extremely well serviced with everything you could want for cooking and relaxing and entertaining children. Washroom with 3 showers and toilets, immaculately clean with freely supplied toiletries and a shop run on an honesty payment basis. The family who are running Wheems have their heart and soul in it and it really does shine out!

Easy communication, comfortable, well appointed apartment.

Our stay at Joan's was even better than we hoped for. A beautiful house in a stunning location. It was great for our young children and really well laid out. The central kitchen and living space was wonderfully open, bright but also cosy in the evenings. Being close to the beach and the amazing walk along the cliffs was also fantastic. And the shower is one of the best we've ever had. Would strongly recommend staying here to anyone considering a break on Orkney and who wants to be somewhere a bit more tranquil.

Of 60 or so places we have stayed at Airbnb, this has been the best Airbnb experience we’ve had! Given that this is a special trip (our honeymoon, which we had not mentioned before showing up) we feel very fortunate indeed! Stewart was an absolutely phenomenal host. So thoughtful and kind. But not imposing or ‘ever present’; just enough for a nice chat when we bump into one another out in the garden, and for some wonderful home-baked treats :) Stewart’s advice about getting last-minute tickets to Maeshowe (just a few minutes down the lane) was spot on and was the only reason we were able to visit. The place is really relaxed and quiet, a place to really unwind. It is a perfect base for exploring these wonderful islands, centrally located with all that’s needed just a 10 minute drive or a short bike ride away. We will certainly be back for an anniversary, as this place holds a special place in our hearts.

This is a really nice cottage in a convenient and picturesque location. Everything was as described and the hosts were very helpful regarding eating out and places to visit.
