beautiful little peaceful cabin

This is the second time I've stayed at Currawongs Rest, and Jo was a wonderful host. Such a beautiful little stay, a bush/salt water retreat not far from the city. All the tiny details are thought of, from bath salts for the lush outdoor bath, to local suggestions of dining and wine-ing! Magical!

I cannot fault this property. My wife and I had a wonderful weekend, the place looks even better than in the photos. The tiny house is chic, cosy, modern, has an incredible sound system, extremely comfy bed, proper little coffee machine, the hot tub was always hot, there was fresh fruit, herbs and flowers from the garden provided - these hosts really go the extra mile! We loved meeting Jeremy and Rae to greet us when we arrived. They recommended the coolest little secret beach ⛱️ they were super relaxed about us bringing our dog. We would love to come back. This is definitely a place we will highly recommend to our friends and family. We feel so relaxed and restored. Thanks you two!

The Tiny Colonial House is cozy and quaint. It has everything you need. It feels like a real escape. We loved it!

This place far exceeded my expectations! Clean and private. Comfy beds. Well stocked. And of course, the outdoor shower was bliss…especially at night. I will definitely be bringing my husband back!

A cute little cosy cabin in a beautiful, tranquil location. I was wanting a getaway from Dunedin for a few days and chanced upon this cabin in Kakanui. I was lucky to have found this enchanted place. Kathrin and Walter were great hosts in going the extra mile in making a shy, private person like me feel comfortable and welcome. They invited me into their home and offered me coffee and kept me warm with their log fire while there was a brief power outage in Kakanui. Their narration of how they first arrived in this country from their home in Switzerland was very interesting and admirable. Kathrin has the gift of being jovial and is a great conversationist. Many thanks for your wonderful hospitality, Kathrin and Walter. Wishing you the very best in life.

Such a beautiful space and the sounds of the birds and frogs at night was better than any sleep sounds! The bathroom is amazing and the main bed is really comfy. Thank you for a great stay!

This tiny getaway was absolutely adorable. Perfectly secluded and close to the beach. This place is what you are looking for if you want a nice bush retreat with the luxury of a hop skip jump away from the beach!

loved this spot. it was peaceful and very comfortable. its a little walk from the parking so if you have a lot of heavy luggage that could be tough. the outdoor tub was great. would have loved to stay longer. would definitely recomend to friends.

Cozy cabin was great for a couple. had everything we needed, including kitchen equipment, and just enough space. The bed was fantastic. Easy 5min or less walk to everything in town and right on the trails.

We had such a wonderful stay at Stephen's tiny home! The views were stunning and every moment at the property felt peaceful and special. We enjoyed visits from the native birds and the company of the two nearby goats, and we also saw some kangaroos and a wombat nearby the property on our drive back from town. It was exactly the country escape from the city that we hoped for. Sitting by fire pit in the evening whilst sipping on local wine and toasting marshmallows was absolute bliss! Stephen was very communicative, and super friendly when we bumped into him on one occasion. We would highly recommend the stay and we are really looking forward to coming back again.

Kerrie's tiny home was perfect for an overnight stay while driving down the coast! The personal touches with pantry essentials, breakfast food, and treats for my pup, were a wonderful bonus!! I would certainly consider staying in the tiny home again if I am ever driving through.

Eve & Andrew's tiny house is a lovely place to stay a few days and is perfectly located to explore the Northlands. The views opposite are gorgeous, and we loved seeing the farm's animals around. The bed is very comfortable and the blinds block out the light very well, perfect for a good night's sleep ! The homemade granola was delicious; and the kitchen is fully equipped for home cooking if required. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for holiday accommodation in the area.

Me and my partner had an absolute blast! The home was nice and peaceful and private. Sheep nearby to feed, a nice porch to sit on and take in the view. Will definitely be back soon! Would highly recommend!

Great surroundings with a beautiful view and cosy accommodation. The host was friendly and very helpful. The dirt road can be challenging for sedans and hatchbacks but definitely worth it if you're looking for a private, tranquil location with breathtaking views.

D’s place was lovely - cute little home in their yard that’s private and aesthetic. It was very clean and a perfect place for a short stay. :) Would recommended.

A soul-nourishing stay with all the right vibes Our stay at Bayside was exactly what I didn’t know I needed. The space was beautifully styled, peaceful, and surrounded by nature—instantly calming and full of heart. You can really feel the intention behind every detail. The little yoga/ meditation/ chill out shack was such a grounding highlight—light-filled and serene, the perfect place to reconnect each morning. While I soaked up slow mornings and movement, my boyfriend headed off for a surf nearby, which gave us both the reset we needed in our own ways. It was one of those stays that leaves a lasting imprint. I drove away feeling lighter, more connected, and already planning our return.

Our hosts were incredibly friendly and gave lots of travel tips. The tiny home itself was cute and clean with the most amazing views. So much so, it was the perfect place to get engaged!

great place and hosts. close to fantastic beaches and wineries. cabin was perfect for two. copper bath and rain shower were excellent. bed was super comfy. coffee was tasty. dogs were friendly and beautiful. definitely recommend if you're in the area to visit wineries and restaurants or have a wander around. we loved it and hosts were top notch.
