Griffin - The Lake Superior Riverboat

Channel your inner Mark Twain. Read, rock, and relax on the water, at the foot of a retired Northern Pacific Ore dock. The Griffin is a functioning riverboat, driven by paddle wheels, originally modeled after historic Mississippi steamboats. It is located at a mom and pop boat yard, which is quite different from a fancy marina. Work happens here. Metal is welded here. Engines are torn apart and put back together here. This quaint “Peaceful River Escape” offers respite from the busy life for professionals, couples & families. Nestled on the French River this walk-out basement escape offers the lower half of the house, complete w/views of the river, access to washer/dryer, 2 private bedrooms, a “bonus” sleeping area w/trundle bed (2 single twins), a private bathroom w/shower. We also provide coffee, tea & light snacks in your fridge & kitchenette. If you like special touches & a memorable stay this is for you!

Close to Lake Superior, Lester park (MTB biking, hiking, paddling, ski trails with lights till 10 PM), 5.5 miles to Bentleyville (biggest holiday attraction in MN), 2 blocks to lake walk, great for biking, running, walking & rollerblading. Pizza, coffee shop, park & gym all within 2-4 blocks in a beautiful, family friendly area neighborhood.

Riverwood Hideaway

This off-grid, solar powered hideaway is on the Knife River just a few miles outside of Two Harbors, Minnesota. The cabin itself is loaded with comfort. A full kitchen, propane refrigerator, solar powered lights and a gas fireplace/furnace offer the conveniences of home. There is an outhouse and firewood for the outdoor firepit. You will have to bring your own water for drinking, but we provide hand and dish washing water at the sink. We have coffee with pour over utensils, dishes, spices.

There are 80-plus acres of forested state land to the south of the property and a walking trail to the Sucker River leading to a fabulous swimming hole.
