Our stay at the Wizard's Cottage was FABULOUS! Three of the most peaceful, relaxing days I've had in years. Our trip was intentionally a stay-cation so I can't speak to the surrounding area, but there was so much to enjoy just on the property. We spent the mornings lazing in the sun listening to the birds, days playing games and doing crafts, and evenings relaxing in the hot tub. My friends and I were so blown away by the care put into each small detail of the place, we spent a good while just taking it all in. There was a new treasure to find in every nook and cranny! If you're planning a visit -- which you ABSOLUTELY should -- here are a few tips: - When you arrive, read through Jill and Joan's history book about the place! It added an extra layer of magic to our stay - The water is a bit sulfuric, so bring some extra bottles - Don't hesitate to reach out to Jill and Joan, they are so kind and responsive! Thank you again for such a wonderful escape! I'd give 6 stars if I could :)

I really liked the place. It was an incredibly relaxing setting and it was so cool to wake up in and discover lotr references I missed the night before. They have a grill, and fire pit and we used the later. I will save this place for the future if I end up in that area again because it was that good

We loved the weekend stay here! We spent most of our time in the garage that was converted to a game room. Foosball, pool, ping pong, and a large round table that was great for playing cards with the group. The igloo outside was great as a hang during the morning for coffee and a book before the rest of the group woke up. It was also great at night to be able to sit outside with the electric fireplace. Thanks for having us!

I had a wonderful stay at this cabin while celebrating my 21st birthday with family. The photos don’t fully capture how scenic and beautiful the place is. The kitchen and living room were spacious, filled with natural light, and perfect for gathering. The entire house, including the bedrooms and bathrooms, was clean and well-maintained. The highlight was definitely the backyard and deck. The sunset over the lake was stunning, making for great photos. We even saw a couple of deers as well. Despite visiting in late March with temperatures in the 40s, the hot tub was a game-changer—clean, warm, and incredibly relaxing. The downstairs and under-deck area also provided a great space to unwind. The only minor inconvenience was a slight sulfur smell in the water, which disappeared after flushing. Additionally, the foosball table could use some attention as I believe the orientation of the players are backwards. Overall, I highly recommend this cabin for a relaxing getaway.

If you are looking for a place for lots of people and lots of outdoor space, in typical Minnesota style, this is it. Couldn’t have asked for a better outfitted kitchen. The beds, pillows and linens were comfy. Opportunities for privacy in the extra cabins. Old school charm of a vintage resort. Hosts were absolutely so responsive and helpful with everything.

Great experience and location for a getaway! Hosts were very accommodating with an earlier check in and later check out time. Very proactive with snow removal (it snowed overnight and driveway was plowed and area around our cars was shoveled before we even woke up.) Gorgeous cabin with great amenities. Massage chair was such a hit with our group, as was the hot tub and provided hammocks. Highly recommend!

This was the perfect location for our group of women to find retreat. The house had everything we needed and wanted and more!! If there were any questions, Chad was easy to communicate with and they were answered quickly. We hope to return in the future!

It was great! Right on the lake, absolutely clean and nicely decorated. We loved the pool, hot tub and sauna. The hosts offered to let us check in early and check out a bit later too. Very helpful and responsive! We really enjoyed our stay.

We had an absolutely lovely and cozy experience. We stayed the last weekend of October, and despite the chilly nights, the cabin was toasty warm. The stars were incredible and the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. We loved the kerosene lamps and reading while rocking on the porch. We hope to come back for a longer stay next time and visit the local Amish shops. Thank you to John and Ruth for sharing your lovely cabin! We enjoyed the photos and news clippings in the photo album so much.

This was our second stay at Michael's place. Just as before, we found it very accommodating, clean, and in a great location. Very quiet and peaceful with lots of beautiful trees around. It has been challenging to find quality accommodations when we visit Wadena so we have really appreciated this cozy cabin!

Very cozy cabin! The neighborhood felt very safe and clean. Even though there were neighbors nearby, the place felt very secluded and like you were in the middle of the woods! Beautiful location, lots to do nearby, but also enough to do at/around the cabin itself! Definitely would stay here again!

We had an amazing getaway. This location was perfect for the two of us and our dogs! We can’t wait to book in the summer and fall to see the foliage on the property. After day trips to 2 state parks with our dogs, our favorite amenity was coming home and building a cozy fire in the wood stove. 10 out of 10 experience!

Beautiful getaway in north central MN. The fall colors over the lake were breathtaking and the cabin was the perfect retreat for a group of friends. Spent nights around the bonfire swapping stories. Would definitely recommend. Ev was so responsive and very pleasant to communicate with, too.

I stayed at this cabin with my pup to explore a few nearby state parks and it was a perfect home base! It was very cozy, clean, and quiet. I ended up extending my stay by a night and Jennifer was very responsive to the request! Loved my time here!

Lakehome easy to find. Smooth check-in. Plenty of parking with 4 vehicles and a boat. The place is neat and clean with comfy beds/linens. We love the deck on the 2nd level,it has beautiful view if the lake. We have everything we needed. It was a fun, memorable weekend. We will definitely comeback. Highly recommend!

My large family did a winter weekend getaway and stayed at this beautiful cabin. The cabin was big enough to accommodate everyone. Brigitte was responsive, flexible, and helpful. The cabin looks just like the pictures; clean and inviting. They provided all the amenities listed. There are many nice lakes around this cabin. Other than the train track nearby, the neighborhood is peaceful and quiet. At night, so many stars shined brightly. We would definitely book this cabin again. Thank you for your hospitality.

Nice place room for everybody actually was bigger than I thought it would be enjoyed the lake nice clean shoreline. Owner was very responsive when I had questions. I would stay at again for sure!

loved it. stayed since i was working in the area and it was spectacular. very clean and quiet. there were deer, turkeys, ducks, Robins, kingfisher, owls, you name it outside. was nice to sit at the waters edge. Will be back if work brings me here again!

Our stay was for a weekend over MEA. It was just what we needed to get away from the normal busy jobs and school. My girls loved the screened in porch where we could take in the fall air yet be warm and “no bugs!” per my 7 year old. Everyone loved the sauna too. It’s a very nice place and it was very clean. We’d definitely stay here again. Thanks again!

We had a great weekend away and really appreciated the ramp accessibility for my dad, who uses a 4 wheel walker. Great hospitality and beautiful lake!
