A former professional in the hospitality management business with an emphasis in the food & beverage aspect of this same world, Laurel Cottage was designed and constructed on an acre of private land on Johns Island to act as a sanctuary in which to live close to the island of Kiawah in which I was employed. The Rutledge Kitchen House is located at the southernmost tip of the peninsula in the historic "South of Broad" neighborhood and is surrounded by many antebellum mansions. Walk to the Battery, Rainbow Row, King Street, the Calhoun Mansion, the Heyward Washington House, shops, museums, and restaurants. Stroll to White Point Garden to see the sunset over the harbor.
