Motherby House

Motherby House is an 18th century grade II traditional farmhouse, the house has lost none of its original charm. Hooks embedded in oak beams show where bacon was once cured and log fires add to the warm homely atmosphere. Families are always welcome. Unwind and relax in our oak beamed living room with a refreshing cup of tea or coffee and a selection of home made cakes. There is off road parking and secure storage for cycles. The hamlet of Motherby, is positioned between Penrith and Keswick.

Saltwater Chronicles: Heavenly Seaside Lodge

Compose your greatest odes to the sea while luxuriating in this ocean-view expansive lodge on a private 2000-acre Estate. Saltwater Chronicles, Dunskey's Estate most ambitious project and crown jewel: 3 bedrooms, 3 ensuite bathrooms with soaking tub and rain shower. Perched atop the Estate's fairy glen, where bluebells cloak the ground like scented eiderdown, and the Scottish cragged coastline soars into the wide open skies, this maximalist lodge may awaken you to your own soulful chronicles. 

The Lady Maxwell Room - Buittle Castle

Named after Lady Maxwell, a former resident of Buittle Castle, the room is appointed in the Gothic Revival and Arts and Crafts styles. The room is on the ground floor, with its own private access to the courtyard (with one step) and its own ensuite bathroom with shower. Full Scottish or American breakfast is included. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are also available. Please let us know of any dietary requirements ahead of time. We aim to offer guests a true country house experience.

After a delicious home-cooked breakfast, there's much to do in this lovely area - from nearby Drumlanrig Castle to wonderful gardens, walking, bird watching, fishing and golf. There are two excellent restaurants within easy reach.

The Sheepfold at Highside Farm

The Sheepfold, renovated in 2017, is a historic Grade II listed building that has witnessed centuries of transformation. Once a humble working barn, it evolved into pens for our sheep, particularly during the bustling lambing season, before being lovingly converted into a cosy bedroom. Perched between the farmyard and mountains, its position offers break-taking views over providing an unforgettable backdrop to your stay. Breakfast can be included as an additional extra.

In our Grade ll listed property you will have your own living space, bedroom with a king size double or twin bed and a private shower room. I can provide a single bed for a child up to 10 years (£15) or a travel cot for a toddler (£10). Please let me know at the time of booking, so we can discuss your requirements. We are in an area of outstanding national beauty-on the Solway coast and on the Hadrian's wall walking route.
