Step Back in Time in a Historic Condo in Treme'

Step onto the balcony of an apartment that forms part of a building that dates back over 130 years. It was fully renovated in 2017 with a contemporary design, while boasting many original architectural features, including 12 foot high ceilings. The original structure was built around 1885 at the prominent corner of N. Claiborne Avenue and Basin Street(previously Orleans Avenue). In 1907, Dr. Emile J. LaBranche Sr. opened LaBranche’s Drug Store which was operated on the ground level of the property, with living quarters above. It was a fully owned and operated African American business, which boasted both Caucasian and African American clientele. The pharmacy, which was among the pioneering businesses in the area, provided opportunities for other medical doctors to start their careers. Over the years the property has served many different uses. Beginning the the fall of 2017, the property received a full historic renovation; returning the building to its original grandeur. The property consists of 2 private units on the 2nd floor of the building. Unwind on the secluded back porch, or sip iced tea on the shaded front veranda of this updated, Victorian-era shotgun home. Statement period details include parlor doors, 11-foot ceilings, fireplaces, wood paneling, and floor-to-ceiling windows. You'll enjoy twelve foot ceilings with ceiling fans, large windows with working shutters, gorgeous woodwork including a fireplace in every room (including bathrooms) and the best of furnishings and art. You will be given the access code to keys with your reservation. The front porch, laundry room and back yard are shared. The remainder is private. You can unlock the adjoining interior door if you rent both sides. Feel free to text or call at anytime to reach me. The house is in the heart of the oldest part of the famous Treme neighborhood, just four blocks from the French Quarter and the street car line. Location, location, location ... bike rentals in the French Quarter (4 blocks) ... bike lanes on Rampart (4 blocks) and Esplanade (1 block) ... new streetcar line on Rampart ... connecting you to any historic neighborhood or park WITHOUT GETTING IN A CAR. Of course there's Uber and Lift. Free street parking. All beds and furnishings are brand new. We're stocked to the brim with almost anything you can think of.
