A small historic harbour and a popular film venue for tall ships including 'Poldark' , 'Hornblower', 'Doctor Who' and the Rosamund Pilcher series.
Good restaurants including the Pier House on the harbour front. Wreckers and the Longstore overlook the harbour walls. The Rashleigh Pub opposite the Boatshed, casual dining.
Charlies excellent coffee house.

The antique trade is highlighted with Jeffrey's fortnightly Thursday auctions. The Lostwithiel Antiques Centre is open every day. Lostwithiel is reknown for festivals: March -Beer, May -Lostfest culture, June -Gin, July-Carnival, August -song, September -Cider & Produce, December -Dickensian.

5 minutes drive. Enticing walking along leats and the river, through the woods the hide industrial relics and giant boulders. This is possibly my favourite place.

25 minutes drive along the south coast. Where there is still a fishing fleet worked by the old Cornish families. Proper pubs and historic harbour. A sizeable holiday home destination but with a firm local grip. Numerous good restaurants. Museum.
