It's also close to Meridian Hill Park (which used to be called Malcolm X Park) and bring a can (yes, a can) of wine or a 6 pack and have a picnic there. Open daily from 8 am (I think) - 10 pm.

1914 14th St NWIt's a bit farther away from my place than Harris Teeter, but if you're on a budget and you're over there, you can grab an inexpensive sandwich or wrap and stick it in your bag for later while walking around town. It's also close to Meridian Hill Park (which used to be called Malcolm X Park) and bring a can (yes, a can) of wine or a 6 pack and have a picnic there. Open daily from 8 am (I think) - 10 pm.

Sightseeing
You can walk to the monument from my apartment if you wanted to. Wear comfortable shoes. Once you're there, you can get to most of the major monuments. Kinda cool.
Great to go early in the am and try to beat the crowds, or to bring a flask of whiskey at night after it's dark. Super crowded during midday.
The elevator has been broken off and on for a while now, so don't expect to take the elevator to see the view from the top/inside for a while.

Completely covered in a glass ceiling. After you're done head over to Proof across the street for some wine and cheese.
