This is our favorite thing to do in the area.
It's the deepest fresh water spring in the united states. They have mermaid shows, swimming, water slides on weekends, boat tours, local animal show by the rangers and you can rent a kayak next door and float down the river.

This river is filled by the deepest fresh water spring in the US. The water is crystal clear. You can float on a kayak or paddle board and see fish, turtles, and even manatee. It's a 3hr float trip to the bottom near the gulf and several manatee call it their home. There are rope swings and mini beaches along the the river.

It's a 3hr float trip to the bottom near the gulf and several manatee call it their home. There are rope swings and mini beaches along the the river.
It's an animal refuge filled with exotic birds, alligators, manatee, fish, bear, wild cats and beautiful vegetation. It's the size of a small zoo and you can easily spend 3hrs or more. We got through it quickly in 1.5hrs.

This is the second closest beach. It's bigger than Hudson Beach but still small and quiet. It has restrooms and a snack stand. The water is shallow and calm. You can see lots of marine life walking around in the shallow water, snorkeling, kayaking or paddle boarding.

This is a State Park but it has amazing hiking trails. The trees and views are beautiful. There are always the possibilities of seeing an alligator so be aware of surroundings. The paths are well groomed.

One of the best beaches in Florida. It's very large with lots of shopping and often there are events happening.

This is smaller than Clearwater and less known so less crowded. We loved this beach. We found shells, hiked and swam all day.

This is one of our favorite local beaches. It's beautiful and not too crowded. You can rent lots of fun water toys including giant water bicycles or bring your own.

Essentials
Be careful crossing Hwy 19 and be aware of motorcycles, golf carts and pedestrians. It's only a couple minutes drive from the house. You can also walk there in about 15 min.

This is a Greek settlement and the sponge capital of the world. You can take tours, shop and dine. We took a sponge boat tour that was really fun.
