Snug, bustling Mexican-style seafood restaurant in a no-frills setting with a BYOB policy. Shrimp soup is my favorite. Right around the corner.

Convenient small gourmet grocery store just a few steps from apartment, right around the corner. They have a great selection of groceries and a huge wall of craft beer and wine a selection with small gourmet cheese section. The staff here is super friendly! They have the basics and then some including local coffees, breads, etc. The produce is fresh and priced well. Sometimes they even pop open a bottle of wine on the weekends for you to taste.

Old-school and I mean old school neighborhood diner serving homestyle Polish fare in a no-frills setting. I recommend any of the soups which are a meal on themselves. They have specials, but the mushroom barely is my favorite. This is nothing fancy just an old time diner from a long time ago. You will see locals, students and Chopin Theatre patrons - a mix of people watching.

My favorite Chicago pizza! Deep dish sausage with extra cheese is the way to go. It is not walking distance but you can take an Uber or taxi and be there in less than 10 minutes. You can also take the #9 Ashland northbound to Webster and walk to Clybourn in minutes.
